Should I take my wedding band off when I take a shower or wash dishes?
I really don't want to, but I don't want it to rust either. Should I take it off to prevent rust and wear when I'm in the shower? Thanks |

Won't rust, but water might loosen stone. Take off when shower or doing dishes.

No, gold never should rust, unless it is gold-plated and the cheaper metal has worn through. It will lose it's brilliance from day to day wear. Be careful when using strong household cleaners. Wipe off w/ a soft cloth after showers or any contact w/ soaps. It will also get small scratches that will make it appear to be less shiny. Get it professionally cleaned and polished once in a while to keep it's luster.

Nope, it won't. I had had my white gold necklace and rings for about 3 years already and it's not rusting.. I never take them off when I'm taking bath or washing plates..

No, of course not. Gold whether it's 10k, 14k, or 18k should never rust. However, white gold may lose it's plating. There is no such thing as pure white gold. All white gold is actually yellow gold plated with other alloys such as rhodium. Depending of the quality of the yellow gold underneath and the thickness of the plating the "yellow" may begin to show through especially if you bathe, swim, workout, clean and wear it everyday. I would take it off if you're going to be doing a lot of swimming or working out. It will prolong the "white" plating.
